* (These cemetery reunions date back to pioneer days, when folks gathered to clean and decorate local cemeteries and served “dinner on the ground” at noon, food served on a blanket or a quilt spread on the ground when no table had yet been built. The cemeteries are now under perpetual care, but many families find comfort and support in getting together for a noon meal, business meeting, and annual visit.)
